Quilt Valuation Service
Why have quilts valued?
Insurance companies require an authorized valuation in the event of a claim for a quilt lost in fire, flood, robbery etc. You may also consider having a quilt valued if it is to be raffled, presented as a gift or as a donation. Groups and individuals, members and non-members of Queensland Quilters Inc. can apply to have quilts valued. All quilts, in good condition, can be valued. At this stage antique quilts are not able to be valued. You will receive a numbered Valuation Certificate showing a brief description of the quilt and the ascertained value.
Each quilt costs $20 for members of Queensland Quilters Inc. or $30 for non-members. The quilt owner is responsible for all expenses relating to the packing, transportation and insurance of work in transit to and from Queensland Quilters Inc.
Valuations are held approximately bimonthly.
You MUST make a booking to have your quilt(s) valued.
Please phone the Valuation Convenor, Faye Clark, on 3410 7444. Then complete and forward the application form, along with the appropriate fee, at least 14 days prior to the valuation day. The form must be accompanied by 4 colour photos of the full quilt which are retained for reference by Queensland Quilters Inc. Quilts which are posted must be in a strong reusable container and must also include return postage.
It is recommended that valuations of important quilts be regularly updated to maintain full cover for insurance purposes.

Teacher Accreditation
Queensland Quilters runs a program of certification which recognises competency to teach basic patchwork and quilting skills.
Subsidized by Queensland Quilters Inc., this is a rewarding though demanding program which, after satisfactory completion, will certify you as an Accredited Teacher of Basic Patchwork and Quilting. We focus on high standards of workmanship in Technical Skills, and assist you to develop a well planned and executed Mini Workshop and Beginner's Course. A minimum 12 months membership is a prerequisite of the course. We would love to hear from you.
Future plans for Accredited Teachers include organizing regular seminars and/or lectures in order to maintain our high standards of teaching skills, and to facilitate continuing improvement. These will be advertised in our newsletter, Material Facts.
Our new Employment Procedures Guidelines document and the Code of Ethics are available upon request to Workshop Convenors and Shop owners interested in employing our Accredited Teachers.
