Basic Sampler Quilt for Beginners

This 8 week course of 2 hour lessons gives the novice quilter an understanding of basic patchwork and quilting techniques, enabling them to complete a small lap quilt or wall hanging.

Floral Convergence

A 1 day workshop featuring a background design of strips cut, rearranged and reinserted. Free standing leaves, machine embroidered branches and 3D flowers complete this wall hanging with mitered corners.

Bias Roses

A 2 day hand and machine workshop where we work with bias appliqué (using 3 widths of hand sewn bias strips) and long stemmed roses. The centre curved panel is set into a curved border with a corded insert. The completed wall hanging or table runner measures approx. 130x45cms. Pattern supplied by tutor.

Fibonacci meets Sudoku

A 1 day machine workshop using 10 fabrics to make a single bed quilt. A simple effective design exploring the use of the Fibonacci number series with its benefit for quilt design.

Machine Quilting

A 1 day technique workshop. Samples only will be completed in this class. The student will learn “presser foot” and “free machine quilting”. Many different quilting designs will be shown with information on needle and thread choices included in the class.

Fabric Colouring

A 1 day fun workshop with the student using fibre reactive dyes to colour their own cotton or silk fabric. Colour choices include one colour, multi colour and rainbow painted fabric. Instructions are also given on value, hue graduations and basic colour theory. Fabric dyes supplied by tutor.

Butterfly Bright

A one day workshop making a wall hanging with a raised (trapunto style) machine appliqué. Pattern supplied by tutor.

Cathedral Windows

A one day workshop featuring cathedral windows by machine (includes instruction in the Fibonacci number series).

Crazy Squares
