Margarets Palette - Merody Bugler





























                                                              The first time I visited Margaret
                                                              Olley’s house, I was overwhelmed
                                                              by the
                                                              colours and the clutter.

                                                              Tubes of paint were left lying
                                                              around her kitchen, dining and
                                                              living rooms ready for use on her
                                                              next composition. Using antique
                                                              Japanese obi cloth as a base and
                                                              silk patches, my work takes the
                                                              colours from Margaret’s many
                                                              palettes and transforms them into
                                                              a single cloth of colours.


                                                              •  Silk, antique Japanese obi silk,
                                                                  muslin.

                                                              •  Hand appliqued silks onto
                                                                  antique Japanese obi cloth.
                                                                  Hand quilted.
