Cephalopods come in many
colours, sizes and shapes & I
continually marvel at their
intelligence & dexterity.
Growing up in Melbourne, I heard
the story of an aquarium that kept
having disappearing fish! They
finally figured out that each night
the resident octopus would undo
his lid, climb up & across the roof
& down into whichever fish tank
he felt like feasting in that night...
then he would journey back to his
own domain, sealing his lid behind
him. The cups on an octopus are
called “suckers”, I wonder if that
was what the aquariums octopus
was thinking every morning when
the staff went looking for their
missing fish!
