Hornbill at Babalala - Julie Tasker
The Yellow-billed hornbill is found in the dry thornveld and woodlands of
Southern Africa. They are nicknamed the ‘banana bird’ because of the shape
of their bright yellow beaks, with which they forage, mainly on the ground for seeds,
spiders, insects and scorpions. Usually, one of the first bird sightings at our camping
trips to Mana Pools on the Zambezi River. Based on a photo by Sally Redfern- used
with permission.
