Special Interest Groups

Queensland Quilters members can experience the many aspects of patchwork and quilting through our Special Interest Groups. Current individual members are eligible to attend all of these groups as part of their annual membership fee.

We encourage members to attend these gatherings to find out more about the diversity of quilting types and styles.

A specialist group for Applique and hand sewing, 2QApp meet twice a month on the first Wednesday & third Tuesday each month.

With monthly discussion topics or guest speakers, you are sure to pick up some great tips to improve your hand sewing.

Our Art Quilters group meets on the last Saturday of the month and is for all things fibre & textiles.

They offer mini workshops and guest speakers throughout the year and activities vary each month, one month you might be learning Sashiko stitching and the next month how to dye fabric with plants from your garden.

Our Modern Quilters group meets on the second Saturday of the month and is for those quilters wanting to explore the Modern Quilt movement.

Gatherings are usually a full day of sewing, where members bring along a project to work on while enjoying the company of fellow quilters. They also offer guest speakers and group discussions on different aspects of Modern Quilting.

2QQHG is the Queensland Quilters Quilt History Group and through this special interest group, we wish to promote the study of quilts historically by providing a variety of experiences and inspiration through demonstrations, guest speakers, challenges and projects.
